For those of you who are SD40 DFL Delegates and Alternates:
Our Senate District 40 DFL Convention is coming up quickly. Thank you for being a delegate or alternate.
Many people are putting in many hours of preparation to help you have a positive and productive day. Below is some information that will give you some background on what will take place at the convention. I encourage you to look at the documents prior to the coming to the convention, and to consider running for a position or volunteering to help strengthen the DFL Party and elect Democrats in our area.
- Senate District 40 DFL Convention:
- Saturday, April 13
- Registration begins at 8:00 AM
- Call to Order at 9:00 AM
- Irondale High School
- 2425 Long Lake Rd, New Brighton, MN 55112
- Refreshments will be available for purchase
- When you arrive at Irondale High School, you will sign in, receive your name badge (aka “your credentials”), pick up an agenda and other materials, and find your precinct’s designated seating area in the auditorium.

- SD40 is able to send up to 42 resolutions to the DFL for consideration at its State Convention for inclusion in the DFL Platform and Action Agenda.
- You will have the choice of either a paper ballot or a link to vote online. Both will be available at the convention.
- There will be an opportunity to discuss resolutions at the convention if the convention so chooses.
- All the supporting material and whereas statements will be available at the convention as well as online.
- You may vote for up to 42 resolutions that you would like to forward to the State DFL.
- You will be voting to elect various officers, directors, delegates, and alternates. These are all excellent ways you can get involved to help strengthen the DFL Party and elect Democrats in our area. Feel free to nominate yourself at the convention for any of the positions. If you don’t see yourself running for a position on a committee or convention, you can always volunteer:
- Volunteer to staff our information tent at Rosefest, Slice of Shoreview, New Brighton Stockyard Days, or Mounds View Festival in the Park.
- Volunteer to work a shift (or two) at a Minnesota State Fair mini-donut booth. Proceeds go to SD40 DFL. Includes free entrance to the fair.
- Volunteer to participate in SD40 fundraisers and events (e.g. plant sale, picnic, holiday bakery, parades, etc.)
- Volunteer to help DFL-endorsed candidates through fundraising, literature drops, door knocking, lawn signs, phone calling, walking in parades, etc.
